General Information Disclaimer

The information provided on this website, including descriptions of services, accreditations, standards, industry practices, and regulatory requirements, is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional, legal, regulatory, compliance, health, medical, or environmental advice. Website content is not a substitute for consultation with qualified professionals regarding specific compliance obligations, regulatory requirements, or operational decisions. PFS TECO and NFPA Global Solutions reserve the right to modify website content at any time without notice.

Service Agreement Terms: Specific service terms, scope, deliverables, and limitations are governed solely by the applicable service agreement between the contracting client and the applicable service provider (PFS TECO or NFPA Global Solutions, as identified in the service agreement). Nothing on this website modifies, supplements, or supersedes the terms of any executed service agreement. In the event of any conflict between website content and the terms of an executed service agreement, the service agreement controls.

Accreditations, Approvals, and Recognitions: Accreditations, government approvals, agency recognitions, and program affiliations referenced on this website are subject to the terms, scope, conditions, and ongoing requirements established by the applicable accrediting body, government agency, or program authority. Accreditation and recognition status may change. Contact PFS TECO or NFPA Global Solutions for the most current accreditation and recognition information, or refer to the applicable accrediting body's or agency's published records.

Standards and Codes: Standards, test methods, codes, and regulatory requirements referenced on this website are representative and are listed to provide general context about the types of requirements applicable to the products and equipment described. Applicable editions, versions, and amendments are determined based on the requirements of the relevant jurisdiction, certification program, accreditation scope, or regulatory authority. Referenced standards and codes are subject to revision, withdrawal, or replacement by the issuing organization.

Third-Party Reliance Limitation: The testing, inspection, certification, auditing, evaluation, plan review, and related services described on this website are performed solely for the benefit of the contracting client under the terms of the applicable service agreement. Reports, evaluation reports, certificates, test data, inspection records, compliance documentation, and other work product are intended for use by the contracting client only and may not be relied upon by any third party for any purpose. Neither PFS TECO nor NFPA Global Solutions assumes any duty, liability, or obligation to any party other than the contracting client. Nothing on this website creates, or is intended to create, any third-party beneficiary rights or any professional relationship between PFS TECO or NFPA Global Solutions and any person or entity other than the contracting client. Third parties who receive, reference, or otherwise access work product produced by PFS TECO or NFPA Global Solutions do so at their own risk and should conduct their own independent evaluation and due diligence.

Test Results, Inspection Reports, and Evaluation Reports: Test results, inspection reports, evaluation reports, and related documentation reflect product or equipment performance, condition, or conformity under defined conditions, specific configurations, and controlled parameters established by applicable standards, acceptance criteria, or evaluation requirements, as observed at the time of testing, inspection, or evaluation. Testing, inspection, and evaluation do not replicate all possible field conditions, installation methods, load combinations, environmental exposures, maintenance practices, or end-use applications. Test results, inspection reports, and evaluation reports should not be construed as a guarantee or warranty of ongoing performance, safety, or compliance under conditions other than those specifically tested, inspected, evaluated, and documented. Product and equipment performance in the field depends on factors beyond the scope of laboratory or field evaluation, including installation practices, maintenance, environmental exposure, modifications after evaluation, and compliance with manufacturer instructions and applicable codes. Final determinations of code compliance are made by the applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction.

Periodic In-Plant Inspections: Where services include in-plant manufacturing inspections, quality assurance audits, or factory oversight, such inspections are conducted on a periodic basis and evaluate manufacturing practices, quality control systems, and production conditions at the time of the inspection visit. Periodic inspections do not constitute continuous monitoring of production and do not guarantee that every product or unit manufactured between inspection visits conforms to applicable requirements. Ongoing product quality and conformity are the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Field Evaluations: Field evaluations are one-time conformity assessments of specific equipment at a specific installation, performed based on conditions observed, information available, and documentation provided at the time of the evaluation. A field evaluation does not constitute ongoing monitoring, a warranty of continued safety or compliance, or a guarantee of performance under conditions other than those documented during the evaluation. Equipment condition, maintenance, operating environment, modifications, and system changes occurring after the evaluation may affect safety and performance and are the responsibility of the equipment owner and operator. Where a field evaluation label is applied, the label indicates that the equipment was evaluated and found to conform to applicable requirements at the time of the evaluation. The label does not constitute a warranty of ongoing safety, compliance, or fitness for any particular purpose. Modifications to the equipment after evaluation may void the evaluation, and re-evaluation may be required. Field evaluations are not a substitute for factory product listing or certification of mass-produced equipment.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Battery Energy Storage Systems involve dynamic electrochemical processes, including the potential for thermal runaway, fire propagation, toxic gas release, and explosion, that cannot be fully assessed through a one-time field evaluation. BESS field evaluations assess system-level electrical and fire code conformity based on conditions observed, documentation reviewed, and information available at the time of the evaluation. The evaluation does not replicate or substitute for laboratory testing of battery cells, modules, or systems under abuse or thermal runaway conditions (e.g., testing performed under UL 9540A or UL 1973). Where applicable, the field evaluation may include review of available laboratory test reports as part of the overall conformity assessment, but NFPA Global Solutions does not perform UL 9540A thermal runaway fire propagation testing or UL 1973 battery safety testing as part of a field evaluation. Ongoing system safety depends on battery management system functionality, thermal management, environmental controls, fire suppression system maintenance, monitoring, and operational practices, all of which are the responsibility of the system owner and operator. BESS codes and standards are actively evolving; applicable editions, versions, and local amendments are determined based on the requirements of the jurisdiction where the system is installed.

NFPA Global Solutions Independence: NFPA Global Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). NFPA Global Solutions operates independently from NFPA's codes and standards development activities. Services provided by NFPA Global Solutions do not carry NFPA endorsement or approval, and NFPA Global Solutions' evaluations, certifications, and inspection findings are not attributable to NFPA. Field evaluations and other conformity assessments are conducted based on the published requirements of applicable codes and standards, consistent with the processes used by all accredited bodies operating under the same accreditation standards.

Formaldehyde, Emissions, and Indoor Air Quality: Information on this website regarding formaldehyde emissions, indoor air quality, or health-related regulatory programs is provided for general informational purposes to describe the regulatory context for the services offered. This information does not constitute health, medical, or environmental advice. PFS TECO's testing and certification services are designed to support conformity with applicable emission limits established by federal, state, and international regulations. Compliance with regulatory emission limits does not constitute a guarantee of specific health outcomes or indoor air quality conditions in any particular building, product, or application.

Supply Chain and Downstream Reliance: Where services are provided to manufacturers, importers, or fabricators, testing and certification are performed for the benefit of the contracting client. Downstream participants in the supply chain, including importers, fabricators, distributors, retailers, and end users, should independently confirm the compliance status of products through their own due diligence processes. PFS TECO and NFPA Global Solutions assume no responsibility to downstream supply chain participants who rely on certifications, test reports, or other documentation without an independent service agreement.

Workplace Safety: Field evaluations and related services are performed to support compliance with applicable electrical codes and acceptance by Authorities Having Jurisdiction. Unless specifically stated in the applicable service agreement, evaluations do not address compliance with workplace safety regulations, machine guarding requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, functional safety validation, safety integrity level (SIL) assessments, performance level (PL) assessments, or other occupational health and safety obligations. Workplace safety compliance is the responsibility of the equipment owner, operator, and employer.

Design Values: Where testing services result in the establishment of design values for structural products, those design values are derived from testing conducted in accordance with referenced standards under defined laboratory conditions. The selection and application of design values for specific building projects is the responsibility of the design professional of record. PFS TECO assumes no responsibility for the application of design values in building design, construction, or project approval.

Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither PFS TECO nor NFPA Global Solutions shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from or related to the use of, or reliance on, information provided on this website or any services described herein. All claims related to specific services are governed by the terms and limitations set forth in the applicable service agreement.
