James Pauley

Jim is the President and CEO of NFPA. Prior to joining NFPA, Jim concluded a 30-year career in the electrical and energy industry, where he most recently served as senior vice president, external affairs, and government relations for a global Fortune 500 company. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and was a licensed professional engineer in Kentucky. Jim has served in several past leadership positions, including chair of the board for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).Jim also serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of the NFPA-affiliated Fire Protection Research Foundation. Jim is implementing an ambitious plan to expand NFPA’s reach to serve the broader safety needs across the globe and tackle persistent and emerging challenges.
